Sílvio Priem Mendes is a Professor at the Polytechnic of Leiria, Portugal. He is the head of the Computational Intelligence and Optimization research group of the Computer Science and Communications Research Centre of the Polytechnic of Leiria. He was the founder of the Information Systems Programming undergraduate of the Polytechnic of Leiria and coordinator for 10 years. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science ¿ Efficient Meta-heuristics in optimization, from the University of Extremadura, Spain, in 2009, his DEA (MsC) degree in Parallel, Reconfigurable and Evolutionary Computing for Solving Optimization Problems from the University Of Extremadura, Spain, in 2007, and his BSc degree in Computer Science ¿ Information Systems, from the Polytechnic of Leiria, Portugal, in 2001. He has published several conference and refereed journals papers in the areas of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. Also, he is the co-author of 2 national patents and 1 international. He has supervised many MsCs in Computer Science areas. Nowadays he supervises 5 MsCs in Business Analytics, Intelligent Transport Systems, Robotic Process Automation and Deep-Learning. He has participated in Portuguese, Spanish and European research projects and collaborated on R&D+I projects for Portuguese small and medium companies. His major research interests include Applied Artificial Intelligence, Enterprise Architectures, Business Analytics, Intelligent Transport Systems and Next-Gen Application Development.
