Research Project

NEUROLYMPICS to develop a neurocentric multimodal control system

NEUROLYMPICS is developing a control system that translates a user's physiological signals into commands through a brain-computer interface, without calibration.

The project combines electroencephalography (EEG) with at least three complementary signals. It aims to recognise five distinct commands with an F1 score of 95% and a response time of up to 200 milliseconds. Two fast interaction video games and an accessible, low cost data acquisition device will be used to demonstrate the technology.

The project brings together Techframe – Sistemas de Informação, SA, Neroes, SA, and ULO – Universidade de Leiria e Oeste. The CIIC team comprises Sílvio Mendes, Paulo Loureiro, Anabela Bernardino, Rolando Miragaia, João Pereira, and Eugénia Bernardino.

NEUROLYMPICS has a total eligible cost of €2,866,794.88, with €1,990,390.86 in European Union support. It is co-funded under the COMPETE 2030 Innovation and Digital Transition Programme (operation COMPETE2030-FEDER-02199700).
